Allowed only in owner-occupied dwellings, with a permit and a 182-night cap.

Sandy City enacted Ordinance 18-23 in August 2018 (codified as Chapter 15-11) to permit owner-occupied short-term rentals. STRs must be the operator's primary residence, occupied at least 183 nights per year. A property may be rented for no more than 182 nights per year, with one vacant night required between stays. Both a Special Use Permit and a business license are required. Corporations and LLCs are not eligible for permits. Transient room taxes must be remitted quarterly.
